10 Movie Recommendations: Period Dramas Based on Books

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, sometimes you gotta watch the movie before you read the book. I know, I know, that can be a controversial statement. I am sure book lovers everywhere just scoffed.

Hear me out — I am not talking about all books, but a particular subset of books. The classics can be a tough one to get into. When they were originally published, they were considered contemporary novels. Now, not so much. Between the etiquette, current events of the time, pop culture references, and whatever else I am missing, it can be hard to grasp. For heaven’s sake, everyone goes by Mr. This, Mrs. That, Lady What’s-Her-Name, and the list continues. Sometimes you just need a face to the name, especially when a bunch of people have the same surname…or they are part of the Russian aristocracy!
