Oh, Canva. How I love thee.
If you don’t know what Canva is and do any kind of designing, stop reading this blog now and go get it.
Canva is a life saver. For years I did all of my design work in Photoshop and InDesign and while both programs do have their merits and can do many things Canva can’t, Canva is my go to. It’s easier and faster, it has a library of resources and templates, it’s more user friendly, and it doesn’t cost an arm and leg to use. Even the paid Pro version is cheaper than an Adobe subscription.

Canva has a wealth of possibilities and can make anyone look like a professional designer. And really, isn’t that what we all want? With all these possibilities I constantly find myself going, “Wait, I can do that?” or “Wish I knew about that earlier”.
So, here are 5 things you may not have known you can do in Canva.
1) Canva Brand Kit
This is part of the Pro edition of Canva, but it is so worth the money you pay for it. The Brand Kit allows you to collect all your brand colours, fonts, and logo in one place. You can create different colour palettes that are easily accessible when making designs, so you never have to go looking for the colour you want. The Brand Kit will make it easier to keep your brand consistent and change the way you interact with Canva.
2) Search by Colour
This feature literally changed my life. When you have brand colours or are working with a certain colour palette, sometimes you need elements, photos, or backgrounds that match those colours.
Canva lets you search for design elements by specific colours! Seriously, when I saw this it changed my life. I’m not kidding. It really helps when trying to maintain a consistent image, colour scheme, and aesthetic.

3) Post to Social Media
Canva has added the option to directly post to most Social Media platforms. This feature can make social media scheduling easier and way more efficient. All you need to do is link your social media accounts with Canva and with the click of button you’ll be designing and scheduling posts in no time.

4) Create a Content Calendar
I only recently discovered this feature. Canva has a section where you can create a content calendar for your posts across all social media platforms. From here you can find the design you’ve created, select where you want to schedule it to, select the date and time, and write your title and caption. With this content calendar you can design, plan, and schedule all your content in one place.

5) Add Notes
When designing there is an option to add notes to your design. This is a great way to leave notes for yourself for future reference, a team member or with someone else . Communicating your thoughts and ideas with your team or leave yourself points to consider or things to do at a later time is always an awesome option.

Do you use Canva? Are there and tricks or tips that you’ve discovered that you find helpful? I’m always looking for fun new ways to use Canva so please share in the comments!

ooh that’s so interesting, I use Canva all the time, and I have never ones published directly to Pinterest. Will have to check it out. Thanks for posting about it!
