What is the Black Cat Blue Sea Award?

This award is for bloggers who strive to write for everybody, and no matter how many viewers they get, make an impact on a reader. This award is an expression of gratitude to the nominee. It should be awarded to anybody that you choose deserves it, and it doesn’t mean that they must have hundreds of followers and likes.

  • Anybody nominated can nominate three other bloggers.
  • Anybody nominated answers three questions.
  • The questions you ask while nominating can be any three questions.
  • If any of the questions asked are offending or the nominee simply does not want to answer them, the nominee does not have to answer them to earn the award.

Samantha’s Answers:

1. What’s your favourite hobby besides blogging?

I mostly read, write, and sleep. However, I do miss the days when I spent long hours drawing and painting. In 2021, I want to make a point of getting back to that. No more excuses! All my poor art supplies have been rotting in a bin in the basement. I’ll certainly be rusty, but I miss how much I loved doing it!

2. What’s your most anticipated 2021 release?

My most anticipated 2021 release is The Bride Bet by Tessa Dare. I’ve read quite a few of her books in the past, but this will be the first time I’ve had to wait for a series to finish. I tend to be fortunate in finding series I love when they’re already finished.

3. Describe your ideal book.

My ideal book is one that has grit. What does that mean? I love a book that doesn’t shy away from uncomfortable topics or realities. There is no fade to black and they aren’t afraid of swearing. As for the characters in these books, I love ones that aren’t bad, but aren’t good either. It makes it feel more real. Now, put that into a historical fiction novel and you have me! But wait — this question is a hard one because my love for historical fiction is matched by my love for regency (or historical again) romance novels! Can I have both all the time, please?

Amber’s Answers:

1. What’s your favourite hobby besides blogging?

I read, write, and spend way too much time playing video games (why do games have to tell you how long you’ve been playing – I feel called out). Also, Covid seems to have been the time to develop some new hobbies, cause what else does one do when they have a bunch of time on their hands? I’ve started reading tarot cards and spending hours upon hours digging into my family tree (I may have squealed when I discovered some Viking history).

2. What’s your most anticipated 2021 release?

One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston. I cannot express enough how much I loved Red, White & Royal Blue, so I am beyond excited for this one.

3.  Describe your ideal book.

My ideal book is a historical fantasy with a morally gray, diverse, and well-developed characters, magical storytelling and writing, wit that makes me laugh out loud, and a dash of steamy romance.
