“I love you, but just not right now.”
She hadn’t meant to spill her drink all over him. It just happened to slip out of her hand onto his shirt. Oops.
“What do you mean you didn’t mean to lick his –“
She wasn’t strangling him because she hated him, she was strangling him because she loved him too much.
There was something about the taste of bourbon that reminded me of the way he used to kiss me — gently, but with a bite to it.

Your protagonist lives in a world where a person’s sexual orientation doesn’t matter.
Your protagonist finds a journal. The entries are love letters written to them from one hundred years ago.
Your protagonist is an assassin and their newest assignment is their childhood crush.
A world where love is called hate, and hate is called love.
Your male high school protagonist is the class nerd. While reading through math class, he’s hit in the back of the head with a paper plane. Opening it, it reads, “Meet me at the bleachers.” The note is signed by the captain of the baseball team.
