I’ve always been a historical romance reader. Seriously, if you saw my book shelves, you would understand.
However, this past year I decided to further my reading reach into contemporary romance. I am still learning to love the genre, but there is one thing that stands true — these books are hilarious. Also, the authors obviously love the universe they have created because I have never seen so many novellas and short stories. I haven’t included them all here, just the main books. So, if you plan on reading any of these series, be sure to head to Goodreads and see what else there is!

That being said, here are some series that I’ve dived into and what I thought of them.
The Bromance Book Club by Lyssa Kay Adams (Book Club It)
For the first time in my experience, I am reading a romance series where guys read romance novels. Need I say more? Yes, because it gets better. They use these novels to help them with their romantic relationships. No, we aren’t talking sex scenes. We’re talking luuuuurrve. It’s adorable how these guys come together to be there for one another for more than a pat on the back. They openly discuss what’s on their mind and emotionally support one another. Honestly, there needs to be more books like these!

Winston Brothers Series by Penny Reid (Own It)
Beards, beards, and more beards? Oh, and did I mention beards? Besides all the pun fun, it’s impossible to not to fall in love with the Winston brothers — Jethro, Billy, Cletus, Duane, Beau, and Roscoe. Don’t let their names throw you off, they have literary middle names thanks to their librarian mom. Honestly, bookworms, open these books and step into Green Valley, Tennessee. You won’t regret it.
Easily my favourite series of the year!
Books in the series:
Beauty and the Mustache (0.5 – occurs in the Knitting in the City Series)
Knitting in the City by Penny Reid (Book Club It
First came Knitting in the City, then came the Winston Brothers. I didn’t read it that way, though. In fact, I personally don’t think it matters which series you read first. The only difference is that this is the series where you meet the Winston brothers for the first time. Besides getting to meet these bearded gems, you also get to meet a diverse group of professional and successful women who come together for the love of knitting. The best part of this series is that each love story is different, just like all their personalities. So, while they all are in the same universe, I felt like they could easily stand alone and be just as good.
Books in the series:
Pucked Series by Helena Hunting (Borrow It)
Puck Bunnies, this one’s for you! The series is so FULL of “pucked” puns that it should be turned into a drinking game (look at the titles). These books aren’t excellent, but they are a ton of shenanigans you are bound to enjoy. Great books to read when you don’t want to think, but what to be slightly entertained.
Books in the series:
All In by Helena Hunting (Borrow It)
Here is another series by Helena Hunting because it’s a spin-off of the Pucked series. You’ll get three new characters and some cameos from some familiar faces. If you liked the Pucked series, then it’s worth continuing with these.
Bonus: Another book comes out November 16th, but it isn’t part of this series. Here, you’ll find the next generation described as a “stand alone, angsty, adult romance.” Continue reading in the Pucked universe. I will be!
Books in the series:
Modern Love by Alisha Rai (Borrow It)
What I love about this series is how it highlights how technology plays a role in our everyday lives. So much so that it influences the way we interact with one another — yes, that means our romantic relationships. If we are going to talk contemporary love stories, I think these ones are the most realistic out of the ones I’ve read just because of how prominent social media and apps are.
Books in the series:
Rough Riders by Lorelei James (Donate It)
Listen, if you pick up these books because of the cowboys, so did I. I will warn you, though, you won’t find much plot. You will, however, find lots of sex. Definitely lives up to its name, that’s for sure. These McKay men (yes, it’s a family) all seem to like the same things…I’ll stop there. Whatever your reason, you will be entertained for some time. There are SO many books in this series, it’s ridiculous. And, from what I understand, a spin-off series about the next generation is in the works. Cowboiiisss forevaaaa.
